Lansing is broken and we in the U.P. and Northern Michigan are paying the price. As we struggle to make ends meet, our hard-earned tax dollars are being wasted by elected officials who are out of touch with reality and too busy bickering to get anything done. We need a state government that is dedicated to creating jobs and making life better for us, not one that caters to big insurance corporations and banks.
Our communities deserve better. We have so much to offer, from our natural resources to our top-notch schools and colleges. As the parent of two Lake Superior State University students and as an instructor at Bay Mills Community College, I have seen those strengths firsthand. I am honored to have a hand in preparing our next generation of workers and business leaders.
As a small business owner, I know how difficult these challenging times can be for entrepreneurs. With the help of my wife and our daughters, I’m proud to operate Bay Mills Maple Products in Brimley. I’m dedicated to fighting for our small businesses and the jobs they bring to our communities by supporting our farmers markets and shopping locally. To create more jobs, we must make Michigan the best place in the world for small businesses to set up shop and grow.
It’s time that we in the U.P. and Northern Michigan get the kind of state government we deserve. Please join me in standing up for what’s right.
Sincerely,
Dick
